Single Cylinder Systems
Your BC system is the heart of your scuba diving kit. Divers have many choices when it comes to choosing a BC system and adding additional equipment to their setup.
The advantage of diving with a backplate and wing is that the design is streamlined with no unnecessary clutter on your chest or anywhere else. Halcyon’s backplate and wing offerings are also modular: You can build on your bespoke system based on your preferences. Plus, your system can grow as you advance in your diving.
How do you choose between the single-cylinder systems that Halcyon offers for recreational divers?
Halcyon’s single-cylinder systems are based around the Eclipse wing. This wing has a long, narrow profile to support your tank and minimize the effort you exert on your dives. This design also eliminates unnecessary drag.
The Eclipse wing comes in three options for lift capacity: 20-, 30-, or 40-pound lift. The 30-pound wing is the standard option for recreational divers and works best with aluminum 80s. The 20-pound option is best suited for warm water diving in a wetsuit, is better for traveling, and also works best with aluminum 80s. The 40-pound option is best suited for cold water diving in a drysuit with a steel tank/8-inch cylinders.
Halcyon’s most popular system is the Eclipse System, which established a new standard for single-cylinder recreational diving. This system eliminates many of the unnecessary features traditionally seen in BC systems. You can choose between an aluminum backplate or a (heavier) stainless steel backplate in small, standard, or long depending on your body size and preference. The Eclipse System comes with an MC Storage Pak for storing dive essentials such as DAMs or lift bags.
The Infinity System builds on the reliable standard of the Eclipse but offers more features. You can use its cinch quick-adjust system to adjust the harness to your size with a simple push or pull of the webbing. The system comes standard with weight pockets, deluxe harness pads, a back pad for added comfort, and a pocket for additional storage capacity.
If you are looking for an even lighter system, particularly for traveling, the Adventure System is a great option. The Adventure System is built around a carbon fiber backplate in small or standard to minimize weight as much as possible. This system also comes with an MC Storage Pak and a carbon fiber STA (single tank adapter). The Adventure Pro System comes with added features such as the cinch quick-adjust system and a built-in STA. The Adventure Pro System also has weight pockets, deluxe harness pads, and an MC Storage Pak. You can choose a black or blue carbon fiber backplate. Both come with weight pockets.
